25th Annual Woodlands Family YMCA Dragon Boat Team Challenge
We are excited to share that the Wranglers recently had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the Dragon Boat Team Challenge presented by Repsol!

Our clients thoroughly enjoyed this vibrant event, which fostered teamwork and camaraderie on the water. The day was filled with thrilling races, laughter, and a sense of community that left a lasting impression.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Repsol for inviting New Danville clients to join in this wonderful experience. Your commitment to community engagement truly shines, and we look forward to more collaborative events in the future! Thank you for making a difference in our community!

We’re excited to introduce our new Good Deeds Program, thanks to the generous support of Buffalo Wild Wings. This initiative recognizes clients who go above and beyond, whether it's helping others or tidying up without being asked. Each month, the top five clients from Day Hab and Meadowbrook who demonstrate exceptional kindness get to  enjoy a complimentary lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. A heartfelt thank you to Buffalo Wild Wings Huntsville and Conroe locations for making this celebration of good deeds possible and adding a fun twist to our clients' contributions!

We're thrilled to announce the start of Phase One of our expansion project! Soon, 15 new residential buildings will open their doors, offering more individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to live fulfilling lives in our supportive community.

 A huge thank you to Montgomery County Community Development, Woodforest Charitable Foundation, and Woodforest National Bank for their incredible support, as well as to Dellora A. and Lester J. Norris Foundation, Futcher Family Fund, Netherland Family Fund, Thaddeus and Maryellyn Miller Family Fund, Edward Monto, and Ironman Foundation for their generous contributions.

 We're also excited to share that we've been selected for a HomeAid Building Project! This partnership will help us build even more amazing spaces for our residents.

New Danville is delighted to be part of the Food and Wine Week events held by the amazing team at Food & Vine Productions.  They really know how to throw a great party and even better, with the purpose of giving back to the community!!  We enjoyed participating in this year’s VIP Lounge Wine Rendezvous Event to celebrate their 20th Anniversary.  Thank you to our friends at Assurant Global Automotive for your incredible volunteer support and a very special thank you to Constance McDerby and her team at Food & Vine Productions for your ongoing support for New Danville and our Wranglers!!

We're thrilled to share exciting updates to our Mavericks classroom made possible by the generous support from the Montgomery County Community Foundation!  Thanks to the Frankie Alexander Benevolent Fund and the Elsie Mae & Edward Everett Taylor Fund for this generous support. This grant allowed us to enhance our classrooms, provide furniture and equipment to fit the specific needs of the participants in our Day Program Classroom!

A Great Success with the Support of our Community!

The curtains have closed on this year’s Spring Thing Luncheon, but the beautiful memories created will linger on. We were all deeply moved by the inspirational speech from Chris Nikic and the touching stories shared by our Wranglers. Their courage and spirit filled every corner of the room with hope and joy.

Let’s All Take Time to Stop and Smell the Bluebonnets…

Lately, my days have been more rushed than ever.  It seems my “To Do List” is growing exponentially with others demanding more and more of my time.  In times like these, we all sacrifice family time, our health and fitness and sleep to meets the demands of the day. 

I have recently had to consciously remind myself to slow down, prioritize and focus on things more significant than others.  As I was giving a tour at the ranch and pointing out the blooming roses, a person on the tour asked, “Can we stop to smell the roses?” 

“Absolutely,” I responded, “Let’s stop and smell the roses.”

New Danville is proud to be a charity partner recipient of the Assistance League of Montgomery County!  Assistance League supports our scholarship program to assist our Wranglers and their families in the costs associated with our day program.  This amazing organization transforms lives and strengthens community through community-based philanthropic programs.  Assistance League of Montgomery County is staffed entirely by volunteers who donated over 55,000 service hours and touched the lives of almost 74,000 women, men, and children in our community this past year.

The Assistance League of Montgomery County is a fine example by demonstrating their core values of Commitment, Leadership, Ethics, Accountability, and Respect.  Thank you to our friends as Assistance League!

At New Danville, I’m reminded daily of the ease of kindness by our Wranglers.  I see our Wranglers openly share kindness with friends and strangers.  Sometimes, it’s just a smile, the opening of a door, love for one our animals or a “Have a great day” to someone struggling.  Kindness can be that simple, or even more overt.  Taking a moment out a busy day to mentor or help is kindness.  Offering to help carry a heavy load, a supportive text, taking time to listen to someone in need are all easy ways to spread kindness.  Let’s all do our part to make kindness go viral in 2024!

There are many myths and legends related to the use and decoration of Christmas trees.  Ornaments have been used in remembrance of Jesus and His birth.  Ornaments have been used by others to honor loved ones recently passed, while others used ornaments as a reminder of Spring during harsh winters.
